Obituary of Dorothy Jane Fletcher

Dorothy Jane Fletcher, wife of the the late William Fletcher, passed away peacefully in her sleep early in the morning of July 8, 2020.

Dorothy was born in Chicago on October 26, 1930. She worked as an office manager for a steel company in the Chicago area prior to retiring to Winter Haven, Florida with Bill.

She was an active member of the Auburndale Community Church where she was regularly involved in the food pantry and volunteered for other church needs. Dorothy made many friends at the church who enriched her retirement years.

Dorothy began suffering from dementia and spent her last years at New Horizon Assisted Living in Winter Haven, Florida.

Dorothy was loved by her family, most who remain in the Chicago area. She was the rock who held the family together during many difficult periods. She is survived by her step-daughter Debbie Smith, grandchildren of her deceased step-daughter Joy Burton - Kristina Burton, Frank Burton, Mark Burton and Jacqueline Joost, and grandchildren of her deceased step-daughter Vicki Robinson - Matt Ashley, Ryan Ashley, Doug Ashley and Nicole Ashley. She has two great-grandchildren via Frank Burton - Manuel and Juliana Burton, and two great-grandchildren via Mark Burton - Marcus and Isabella Burton.

A remembrance of Dorothy will be held at Auburndale Community Church in Auburndale, Florida. Please check the church’s facebook page for details.

A remembrance and interment will be held in Chicago for family at a date to be determined.
