Obituary of Richard Dale Unser

Richard “Dick” Unser, 88, of Orlando, Florida died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.  Dick was born on November 3, 1932 in Menasha, Wisconsin to Galen and Margaret Unser. 

Dick enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950, serving in the Korean War aboard the USS Damato until his discharge in 1955.  He married Sarah Jane Schneider in 1957 and they had four children.  Richard Unser II (Brenda) of Crivitz, WI, Tammi Unser Orlando, FL, Robert Unser (Rosemary) of Winneconne, WI, and Terri Unser of Tulsa, OK.

Dick was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, along with being an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.  He loved anything to do with sports and would spend endless hours talking to anyone who would listen, especially his children and grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Joseph, and two sisters Katherine Sodamark and Rosemary Davis .  He was also preceded in death by a grandson Michael Unser.  Surviving in addition to his wife and children are six grandchildren; Sarah Maynard (Kyle), Brandon Unser, Steven Unser (Sarah), Alexis Unser, Alex Unser and Margaret Unser, in addition to four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Unser, Michael Maynard, Matthew Maynard and Sophia Unser.  One brother David (Rita) of Cape Coral, FL and Betty Yost (John) of Omro, WI and two sister-in-laws; Mary Unser  Westfield, IN and Ruth Mott of Oak Park, IL; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dick will be laid to rest on December 30, 2020 at 2:30pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
