Obituary of Lee R. Vanderheyden

Leroy (Lee) Vanderheyden 90, of Winter Haven, passed away on January 30, 2021 at the hospice house in Auburndale, FL. He died from complications from pneumonia. Born August 8, 1930 in Moline, Illinois to Morris and Opal Sales Vanderheyden. He moved to Winter Haven, FL in 1952 with his wife Bette Vanderheyden. He owned a construction company and warehouses in Winter Haven, FL for many years. He is a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church of Winter Haven. He loved his family and his life in FL. He was a very devoted hard worker which was his passion. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bette Vanderheyden, his brother, Lester (Les) Vanderheyden, sisters, Darlene Vanderheyden Arbogast, Joyce Vanderheyden Scott. He is survived by: his partner of 20 years Donna O’Donnell of Lake Hamilton, FL, his sons, Robert (Louise) Vanderheyden of Haines City, FL, James (Robin) Vanderheyden of Winter Haven, FL, Jerry (Sandy) Vanderheyden of Winter Haven, FL, daughter Amanda Vanderheyden Aburto of Winter Haven, FL, he had 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions there can only be a private family gathering at St. Matthew Catholic Church on February 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. where Lee will also be laid to rest in the Church Garden.
