Obituary of Philip Emmett Duncan

Philip “Emmett” Duncan, 84, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2022. Emmet was born on March 24, 1938, to the late James and Mable (Poe) Duncan in Pennington Gap, Virginia. Emmett moved to Carmel, Indiana, with his parents and 4 siblings in 1953. Emmett graduated from Noblesville High School in 1956 and received his degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1960. Emmett was impeccable with details and numbers which led him to open his own electrical company, Duncan Electrical, LLC. Emmett and Mary retired in Winter Haven, Florida. 

Emmett is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 54 years, Mary Duncan; Children, Rick (Michelle) Duncan, and Marilyn Garcia; Grand-Children, Michael Duncan, Jeremy (Michelle) Duncan, Travis (Lisa) May, Ashley (James) Spahn; and Great-Grandchildren, Jett Spahn, Alexis Duncan, Isis Duncan, Ethan May, Lillian May, Jack May, Morgan May; Siblings, Jean (Steve) Campbell and Kenneth Duncan

In addition to his parents, Emmett was preceded in death by his brother, James Paul Jr., sister, Darlene Emmert, and son, Roger Duncan. 

Emmett loved his family and friends fiercely. He has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and he will be tremendously missed. 

A celebration of Emmett’s life will take place at Christ Community Church on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 11:00 AM – 3:00PM. Christ Community Church is located at 1895 Overlook Drive, Winter Haven, Florida 33881.
