Susan "Sue" Smith

Obituary of Susan "Sue" Elizabeth Smith

Susan Elizabeth Smith “Sue”

Sue passed away peacefully at her home in Winter Haven, Florida with her husband by her side on October 13, 2022 at the age of 60.

She was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada and became a US Citizen in November of 1995.

Sue was born on the West coast of Canada and grew up waterskiing in the summers and snow skiing in the winters.

When she was 12, the family moved to Ottawa, Canada’s capitol, where she continued to ski.

She spent several summers at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain Georgia as an assistant and cook for the Canadian Waterski Team as they practiced in the warmer climate.

It was at Callaway Gardens that she was first hired as a water ski show performer. From there she spent a summer in Germany waterskiing at Holiday Park, a popular theme park.

It was in Germany where she met her husband Steve who hails from South Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Within a year they married, retired from waterskiing and settled in East Waterboro, Maine where their only son Christopher was born.

In early 1992 they moved to Winter Haven Florida and both retuned to show skiing. Sue performed another 8 years at Cypress Gardens and then hung up her ski and joined her husband in residential real estate.

Sue loved flowers, planning events, decorating for all the holidays, spending time on the water with family and friends and planning multi-state camping trips.

She volunteered for various charitable organizations including the American Cancer Society.

She loved her small family, particularly her beautiful grandchildren.

She is a Christian and proudly claims Jesus as her Lord and Savior and gives him the Glory for allowing her to live 5 more years while fighting a terminal disease.

She now enjoys a heavenly eternity where she will one day be joined by the rest of her family.

Sue is survived by her Father, Reginald Barnes
