Nancy & I would like to go a little deeper in sharing who Jackie was and how special she was. We first met Jackie & Pete in April 1974, that's nearly 50 years ago, and we have been following them ever since. Marriage Encounter (ME) brought us together. Jackie & Pete were a Team Couple, they presented talks on the ME weekend. Their talks were always spot on and Jackie loved meeting and talking to the couples on the weekend. She was the mother hen, and each of the coupes were her chicks. She had a special relationship with the Lord. I have witnessed two miracles in my life and in both instances it was Jackie that lead us in prayer. The first was with Earl Carroll, a young man in his late 30s or early 40s. He had a massive heart attack and the doctors non verbally said that it was only a matter of time. Jackie got us to pray on the floor in the hospital. There was an electricity in the air during this prayer service. Something was different, we all felt it. Shortly thereafter Earl came through and made it. The second was with Peter. As most of you know Peter had a very serious pancreatic disorder. For a week he was packed in ice and had more tubes coming into and out of him than anyone could imagine. Only 5% of the people who get this infection live. The doctors again said that it was only a matter of time. But Jackie insisted that this was not going to happen. Most evenings we sat on the floor of the hospital and prayed. Again there was something different during these prayer services. The doctors and nurses were amazed to see us praying on the floor. When Peter started to get better, some of the nurses joined us. Most of us firmly believe that it was Jackie's strength and prayer life that got him through this ordeal. Jackie was always there for others. Race and religion were never a problem for her. In her eyes we were all equal. When they moved from Delray Beach to Lake Worth, they joined another Parrish and soon they were leading many charitable functions. She had more people over her house for dinner and you never left Jackie's house without a box of leftovers. She had a very big heart and always tried to make you feel special. Oh sometimes she was pushy, but it was for others and not for herself. Even after the four of us moved to Lake Ashton, Jackie was one of the early volunteer social directors and all functions ran through her. Even this last move to assisted living, Jackie started a couple of new clubs, would go around and talk to the other people before and during dinner. She had so many gifts and she so generously shared them. These are just a few examples of what Jackie did and how she shared her love. The story of Jessica is another clear example of her love of family. Someday you should ask Jessica. We witnessed it and all we'll share is that it was a pure gift of love.
Lord we ask you to open your arms and gently accept Jackie into her reward of everlasting life. Thank you for bringing her into our life.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Jackie's passing. She was a warm and loving friend and always great fun to be with. We will carry wonderful memories of days in the Mid Hudson Valley, Marriage Encounter weekends together in Florida and the Bahamas and evenings at Jackie and Pete's home in Delray Beach.
May she rest in eternal peace and our deepest condolences to Pete, Val, Michael and Jessica.
