Obituary of Monique P. Quick

Monique P. Quick passed away peacefully on December 26, 2022 at her residence in Winter Haven, Florida. Her husband, Wallace J. Quick, predeceased her on August 4, 1998. Monique is survived by three stepdaughters: Karen J. Wilson, Yuma, Arizona; Cynthia Quick, Chicago, Illinois and Christine da Silva Ramos, Arcangues, France; her nephew Mark Passalacqua (Leala), Las Vegas, Nevada, and several nieces and nephews residing in New York, Ohio, Virginia and Nevada; and her pet Pomeranian, Topper III.

Monique was raised and educated in Upstate New York majoring in Business at the University of Rochester. Upon her marriage to Wallace in 1964 she relocated to Chicago. In her professional life she was a Director at Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc., headquartered in Chicago, for 9 years responsible for all consultants’ services, space management and support personnel administration. In 1973, she was recruited as a candidate for the position of Assistant to H. R. Haldemann, Chief of Staff, and President Richard M. Nixon, however the process was thwarted by the Watergate affair. She served as Human Resources Organizational Analyst for the Libby, McNeill & Libby Corporation in Chicago for 4 years, developing and executing an internal consulting program to complete Libby’s acquisition by Nestle, Switzerland. Monique and her husband Wallace, founded Duffy’s Foods Ltd., a food seasoning manufacturing company operating in the Midwest. Upon their relocation to Winter Haven, Florida in 1980, she joined Ethan Allen Hoe Interiors as Manager of its Lakeland operations for 25 years until her retirement in 2005.

During her business career, Monique was President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club’s Metro Chapter in Chicago, a member of the American Society for Personnel Administration and the American Society for Training and Development, a Charter member of Zonta International in Lakeland, and a Director on the Board of the Polk Heartland Employment Training Association. She was an active volunteer serving the Winter Haven Women’s Resource Center, Wedding Coordinator for St. Joseph Catholic Church and a Director of the Imperial Symphony Orchestra, serving as its President 2007-2008.

Monique and her late husband were members of the Chicago Yacht Club and Lake Region Yacht and Country Club in Winter Haven. They traveled extensively, loved sailing and deep water fishing, enjoyed music, collecting antiques and mastering gourmet cooking.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven. Interment will take place at East Lawn Cemetery in Ithaca, New York at the convenience of the family.
