Obituary of Raleigh Gipson Powell

In Loving memory of Raleigh Gipson Powell, Born June 24, 1933, and entered the gates of heaven on February 24, 2023. Raleigh is preceded in death of his beloved wife, Masako, his Son, Richard, his daughter Nancy, and his mother, Mae Courson. 

He is survived by his son and daughter in-love, Bobby and Tina Powell. His grandchildren: Brittany Trossman and her husband ( Cam), Robert Powell, Tonya Acree and her husband (Scott), and Tammy Singleton. 

His great grandchildren: Max Trossman, Mason Trossman, Cassidy Trossman, Ryleigh Acree, Ryan Acree, Calee  Mitchelson, Annalyse Mitchelson, Emma Singleton and Evan Swaney.

His last surviving sibling, Carol Fowler from North Carolina. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Raleigh was drafted into the military at the age of 17 and Retired Military. He will be celebrated with a soldier’s flag and the honor guard playing Taps.

Raleigh was a man who loved his family and cherished his friendships. If you knew Raleigh, you knew he was a kind and honorable man, with a gentle soul. He believed whole heartedly and prayed nightly, that the Lord would bless his family. We miss him incredibly, and know that one day we will embrace him again. 

As he entered heavens gates, He left behind him a Legacy of Love.

Funeral will be held Wednesday, April 5th at Steele’s Family Funeral Services (207 Burns Lane, Winter Haven, FL 33884)

The celebration of his life will be an informal gathering of souls that he has touched. Doors will open at 3:30, with Military honors at 4:30.
