Dicy Louise Dietrich, age 88, passed away suddenly, but peacefully in her home in Winter Haven, Florida on the evening of March 8, 2024. Her husband of 66 years was by her side. Dicy was born in Turkey, KY on September 15, 1935 to Arthur & Nannie, (Terry) Johnson. She was a 1953 graduate of Breathitt County HS in Jackson, KY. Upon graduation she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and soon started work as a switchboard operator at Cincinnati Bell. She continued to work there until her retirement in 1989. Together with her husband Charles, they raised 2 daughters, Susan & Paula.
Upon retirement they moved to Chattanooga, TN to be closer to her daughters & grandchildren. In 1998 they moved to Winter Haven, Florida. Here she became an avid bridge player & devoted countless hours to her flower gardens. There was always something blooming in the yard. She was also an avid walker around the neighborhood and always a compassionate ear and helping hand to her neighbors of all ages. She is preceded in death by her parents & older brother, Arch Johnson, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Charles (91), her brother Arthur Johnson, Jr.,and her daughters, Susan (Mote) of Winter Haven & Paula Dietrich of Ft Oglethorpe, GA. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren- Heather Kopacek (Austin, TX), Dr. Phillip Mote (Estero, FL) and Cassidy & Zachary Dietrich (Ft Oglethorpe, GA). She also had 2 great-grandsons.
Her funeral will be 9am on April 26, 2024 at St Matthew Catholic Church in Winter Haven where she will be inurned in their Columbarium.
