Obituary of Susan J. Connor

Susan J. Connor, 67 years old, passed from this life 10/17/2021, following a courageous 2-year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Susan was born 1954 in Columbus, OH. Together with her family, she moved to Auburndale, FL at age 2. She attended Santa Fe and Auburndale High Schools in Polk County, then became a Mom to Luke and Sarah. She had a long career as a Registered Nurse (RN/BSN), including work in Ob/Gyn, Home Health, Health Department & School Board. She met Barry Connor in 1993, and they enjoyed over 25 years of marriage. They adopted their beloved Cody at age 3, and raised him until adulthood. Susan loved traveling, TV, movies, the Outdoors and showed an amazing love for those around her. She especially loved the mountain home she and her husband had built in North Carolina in 2016.

She was predeceased by her parents Marvin and Catherine Vernon, and her son Luke Kangas. She is survived by her husband Barry Connor of Winter Haven, FL, daughter Sarah (Mike) Townsend of Arabi, GA, son Cody Connor of Sandy, UT, her brothers David (Ellen) Vernon of Menomonee Falls, WI and Dr. Stephen (Fei) Vernon of Miami, FL, and her sisters Mary Ellsworth and Patricia (Ray) Butler, both of Winter Haven, FL. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law Heidi Kangas of Bartow, FL, her loving grandchildren Devin & Myles Townsend and Ava Goff, all of Arabi, GA and Dovie Kangas of Bartow, FL, as well as other nieces and nephews and many friends. She had a great love for both her dogs: Sassy & Bennie.

There will be a memorial service at Lake Eva Community Park at the Pavilion next to the playground on November 13, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. The address is 555 Ledwith Avenue, Haines City, FL 33844.
