Obituary of Larry Glen Marshall

Larry Glen Marshall, age 68, passed away at his home in Winter Haven, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, after a long struggle with cancer.

He was born on May 24, 1950, in Winter Haven, FL to Challis and Mary Kay Marshall. He was a lifelong resident of Winter Haven and graduated Winter Haven High School in 1968, where he was a member of the marching band. Larry earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 121. After graduating high school, he enrolled in the National Guard.

In the summer of 1969, he met his wife, Candy Carroll, and was married on November 22, 1973. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1974. Larry and Candy then returned to their hometown of Winter Haven, where they raised their family and continued to grow their family business, Carroll Marshall Insurance.

Larry was active in his community as a coach of his son’s youth baseball team and Boy Scouts, member of First Presbyterian Church, The Florida Club, and past member of Lake Region Yacht & Country Club. As an alumni of the University of Florida, Larry was a proud member of the Polk County Gator Booster Club and spent many Saturdays with his family at Gator football games.  Some of his favorite times were spent skiing with his family on the chain of lakes and boating in LBK.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Candy; son, Dusty; daughter, Courtney; brother, Rick (Pat); and nephew, Matt. He was also greatly comforted and adored by his loving dog, Lucy, and granddogs, Desilu & Remi.
