Danny Shoup

Obituary of Danny Shoup

Dan Shoup, 79, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away peacefully on February 22, 2023.  He was born to Lester Joseph and Ruby Carolyn (Phelps) Shoup of Ohio on October 26, 1943.  Dan graduated from Prospect High School in 1961.  After Dan honorably served in the United States Army, he then attended the Northern Virginia Police Academy and Northern Virginia Community College where he received both his patrol and criminal investigation certifications. Dan worked at the Alexandria Virgina Police Department as a motorcycle patrol officer and a criminal investigator. Dan moved to Winter Haven, Florida and worked for many years as the Director of Loss Prevention for Scotty's Home Building Supplies.  The next chapter in Dan's career brought him to Sweet's Paints for many years, where he was manager and eventually co-owner. Dan's happy place was anywhere he could just spend time with his wife Luci, his kids, and grandkids.  He also loved his toys: Wm. Knabe player piano, Rowe AMI jukebox, and his 1960 Ford Thunderbird (Square Bird). Dan also had a soft spot in his heart for dogs, which spoke to Dan's appreciation for unconditional love.  Dan will be best remembered for his generosity, strong work ethic, and his deep and genuine love for his wife Luci, his kids, and his grandkids.  Dan is survived by his wife Luci Marie Shoup of Winter Haven, step-sons Mark, Steve, and Doug, sister Linda (Shoup), daughters-in-law Tracy, Torrey, and Maria, grandchildren Noah, Jenna, Luke, Lexi, and William.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Steve Shoup, and his sister Marsha (Shoup) Harman.  As deeply as we loved Dan and Pop-pop, we truly believe he would want us to smile and laugh and celebrate him, so let's honor him and do just that.  A small gathering with family and friends was held to honor Dan and celebrate his life and impact on our lives.
