Obituary of Charles Oral Skelly

Mr. Charles Oral “Chuck” Skelly, age 96, a resident of Lakeland, Florida passed away Friday, June 2, 2023 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale surrounded by his family. Mr. Skelly was born June 1, 1927 in Kokomo, Indiana to Glen E. and Sarah Ellen (Hudson) McCoy. He was a Polk County resident since the 1960’s coming from Indiana. Chuck retired after 40+ years with Wheaton Van Lines as a Long Distance Truck Driver. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II. He enjoyed NASCAR, golf and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather – Edward Skelly; 4 brothers – Eddie, Sonny, Bill & Jerry; 2 sisters – Betty & Evelyn and great granddaughter – Delana. Chuck is survived by his loving family, 4 sons – Charles (Diane) Skelly, Gary Skelly, Allen (Nancy) Skelly & Jack (Suzanne) Skelly; daughter – Mari Stewart; 6 sisters – Hattie, Nina, Sharon, Gloria, Sarah & Jeannie; 7 grandchildren – Chase, Stephanie, Tammee, Rob, Matt, Debbie & Kristie; 16 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. An inurnment will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, date TBA.
