Obituary of Robert Lawrence Petersen

Mr. Robert “Bob” Lawrence Petersen, age 70, a resident of Winter Haven, Florida passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Winter Haven Hospital. Mr. Petersen was born February 19, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Burton Albert and Katherine Anne (Reitz) Petersen. He was a resident of Winter Haven since 2019 coming from Naples, Florida. Bob graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Bachelors in Plant & Soil Sciences and retired after 26 years from Collier County, Florida as a Horticulturist. He was a member of the Florida State Arboretum, National Association of Arborist and the International Palm Society. Bob was an avid Reptile enthusiast helping the red footed tortoise and many different lizards. He enjoyed traveling in his RV and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother – James Petersen. Bob is survived by 3 daughters – Heather Riech and husband Carl of Winter Haven, Florida, Krystal Petersen of St. Charles, Michigan and Kaytlynn Petersen and partner Ryan of Brandon, Florida; 2 brothers – Ken Petersen of Monterey, California and Bill Petersen and wife Sue of Collinsville, Illinois; 2 sisters – Carol Giambalvo and husband Mike of Freeport, Illinois and Terese Stecki of Georgia; grandson – Tyler & granddaughter Jordan and her husband Job; and great granddaughter – Maci. There are no services scheduled for Bob at this time.
